Exposed C236 without heatsink in HP Z240
Hi,
I recently bought brand-new HP workstation Z240 and gave it back immediately. To my great surprise I discovered that the c236 chipset was exposed having no heatsink whatsoever. I checked two other Z240s with the same result. My confusion stem from the fact that 'Intel requires that system designers plan for an attached heatsink when using the PCH'. Has anything changed? Is a heatsink no longer required for c236 (especially in workstations)? What about the lifespan of such solution/application? As far as I know the initial production series have heatsinks attached to c236. Has anyone encountered this problem?

Intel eXtensible 3.0 max USB number, not recognize others
Hi everyone! I'm new to Communitie.
I've a problem and I'would know if somebody could help me. Thanks in advance.
I have a Windows 7 Server Pack 1. I've 4 front USB and 6 back USB. I have used USBView in order to see more, and the controller that the PC has is Intel 3.0 eXtensible , with one HUB root with 27 ports.
The fact is that I want to connect 40 USB devices, smartcard readers concretly, so i need some HUBs. We have 2 USB HUBs with 10 ports and 1 HUB with 20 ports.
Then when I try to connect all of them, at the begining the driver of each device is recognized and installed. But when I've 20 readers enabled, next reader is not recognized and outputs error code 10 (not being able to enable) and i cannot use them. The same happens with all the other readers that were waiting to be enabled.
I would like to know why do you think it could be. May it cannot handle more than 20 devices but I've read that should be able to handle at most 127devices, so i don't know.
Thank you for your time and sorry if i don't know anything, i'm newbie.
Windows 10 1709 RAID1 creation fails in Intel RST
Getting the same error as was in this thread:
Creation of Raid-1 throws SSI Status: Invalid State
Running Windows 10 1709 and trying to create a RAID1 in Windows using Intel RST with my system drive and a blank identical drive, both are Samsung 850 EVO SSDs. Driver version is 15.9.0.1015.
The Intel RST error window that pops up reads:
(0xA00500D): An unknown error occurred while an operation was in progress. The operation could not be completed.
The Windows Event Viewer log entry is as follows:
- | System |
|
|

|
- | EventData |
0: Error Missing Error String 0: failed to get file system properties: 8004256F System.Exception: 0: Error returned by IsiVolumeCreateFromDisks() in PsiData::PsiDataSource::ActionVolumeCreateFromDisks |
I noticed the bit about "failed to get file system properties" so I thought it may be a permissions issue and ran Intel RST as administrator but still the same issue.
Intel Driver & Support Assistant 3.1.1
I am unable to uninstall from my computer. Errors out about half way through uninstall with message "The specified account already exists."
Clicking 'ok' in the error box allows it to try again. After a few attempts to continue, it errors out with 0x80070643.
I am trying to uninstall because although previous versions worked, this version,3.1.1, would not run properly.
Thoughts?
Intel USB 3.0 driver for HP 840 G2
Hello,
We are looking to deploy the Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver to Windows 7 machines. The 840 G2 is the 9 series Chipset family, but the driver is failing. The driver version is 5.0.4.43.
After installing the driver on the 840 G2, we get the blue screen and the machine crashes. Also, the USB ports are disabled. One of the USB hub in device manager displays as "unknown device", but the version on that device is 5.0.4.43.
We want to deploy this driver per Microsoft recommendation to improve the Skype for Business performance on computers. The machines are all Windows 7 x86.
Need your help to identify what is causing this error - are we using the incorrect driver? Why does it disable the USB ports.
Log file is attached.
Thank You,
Priyesh

ACPI\ACPI0012 device identification ?
Hello,
Haswell motherboard(not Intels), windows7 OS.
(I will ask motherboard manufacturer support - but maybe I'll get quick answer here )
After updating to new uefi version, "Unknown device" appears which hardware ids are "ACPI\ACPI0012". All device drivers were fine before update(chipset, etc.), reinstalling chipset drivers didn't help. I suspect that this device could be because some new feature(xeon cpu feature?) was enabled after update.
What device hardware id ACPI\ACPI0012 represents ?
How do I find drivers for it ?
Thanks,
Vilius M.

Z370 USB 3.0 Drivers
Is there anywhere I can download USB 3.0 drivers for Windows 10 64-bit straight from Intel instead of using the ones that Microsoft automatically installs? I have not been able to find the download and my motherboard manufacturer does not have them listed on their website either.
I've been dropping packets and was hoping the updated drivers straight from Intel would help out. I am using a Z370 board with Intel USB 3.0 ports.
