Touchpad and USB ports get shut down when on battery

Hello, on Lenovo ideapad 100S-11IBY after last Windows update my touchpad gets disabled when laptop is on battery, when it's plugged in and charging everything works well. I can enable touchpad with shortcut on F6 key, but after few seconds of not using the touchpad, it disables by itself. I also noticed that I can enable touchpad by clicking the physical left or right click below it, but not by tapping the touchpad. After click, if I move my mouse it will not get disabled, only after 1-2 seconds of inactivity. Also, I think it has something to do with Power Management, but when I go to Manage->Device Manager->Mice and pointing devices->HID-compliant mouse and go to Properties, I don't have the Power Management tab there. Drivers are up to date, and there are no mouse drivers on Lenovo support page.

I'm using Windows 10 Home edition.

Windows version is 1709 (OS Build 16299.15).

Before the update I had only one power plan, "Balanced". When I clicked on battery icon in taskbar there was only button for battery saver and brightness. Now after the update there is a slider, which I can slide and change power settings like better battery, better performance and best performance. Under power plans I still have only "Balanced" and when I go to advanced setting of that power plan I can only see 5 things listed: Desktop Background settings, Sleep, Power buttons and lid, Display, Battery.

After update, I first didn't notice the problem, because while the laptop is on the charger everything works good.

When I unplug the charger then it seems like it disables my touchpad and USB ports after 1-2 seconds of inactivity, and I can activate them with click on mouse, and after the click if I constantly move my mouse it will not get disabled.

First thing I tried was to Update drivers from Device Manager, but drivers were up to date. So I uninstalled the drivers and rebooted, and then installed drivers from Device Manager, that didn't change anything, then I uninstalled those, rebooted and installed drivers from Lenovo support website. Still no change. I also tried setting USB controller and ports (on device manager) not to power down to save energy, tried disabling selective USB suspend from CMD->powercfg (because there is no that option listen in Power plans->Advanced power options).

My battery was fully charged all the time, and it estimates 9+ hours.

Only thing that did difference was when I disabled Intel(R) Power Management IC Device in Device Manager under System devices.

Then when I unplugged the charger nothing happened, nothing changed. But after that I could not see battery percentage and did not have the information if battery is charging or anything.

I do not get any error messages.

Can you maybe tell me how to make it that when I unplug the charger nothing changes, that it stays on power management settings it had while it was on charger. There are no options in Power plans but when I unplug the charger I can see that brightness gets lower, by that I think it switches to a different power plan.

Is there anything else I can try?
Does Intel have any Power management software which I can install to set this up? Or should I roll back to older version of windows?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

ACPI\ACPI0012 device identification ?

Hello,

Haswell motherboard(not Intels), windows7 OS.

(I will ask motherboard manufacturer support - but maybe I'll get quick answer here )

After updating to new uefi version, "Unknown device" appears which hardware ids are "ACPI\ACPI0012". All device drivers were fine before update(chipset, etc.), reinstalling chipset drivers didn't help. I suspect that this device could be because some new feature(xeon cpu feature?) was enabled after update.

What device hardware id ACPI\ACPI0012 represents ?

How do I find drivers for it ?

Thanks,

Vilius M.

Hello everybody,

We buy new computer with H270. Having 2 Serial ports (one with RS422 + RS485).

We see the serial driver was a Microsoft driver dated from 2006 (on Windows 10).

Do you have official Serial Driver ?

Hi All,

What exactly should be done to initialize southbridge ICH6-M in AHCI mode? (I suppose that's what BIOS does every time before handing control over to OS)

Many thanks in advance!

Legacy Chipset Installation Package

Hello

Can someone point me in the right direction for download and backlog for Notebook Legacy chipsets - 10.1.1.38 and below.

Similar to something like this

https://downloadmirror.intel.com/20775/eng/ReleaseNotes%2010.1.1.42.htm

I have found a Chipset download page - but it's all to do with the NUC products - if these are the ones Notebook/Laptops are meant to use - can the Web Admins add it to the correct category for Search results as well?

I'm trying to debug a broad range of issues at the moment - so I'm trying to categorize each package - and cross reference what the Microsoft Download Catalog is pushing devices.

Thanks

Intel RST problem

Hello, I may have a big RAID 1 problem and need advice.  I wanted to get rid of my RAID setup which is two 2TB drives with 300GB as a RAID 0 array and the remaining as a RAID 1 array.  I did research beforehand and read numerous places that when a RAID 1 array is reset to non-raid disks in the RST boot screen you end up with two identical disks with each having a working copy of the data.  Just what I wanted so I did that.  But when I went back into Windows 10 afterwards Disk Management says the disks need to be Initialized.  Is this correct?  I did not see it mentioned in the posts I read before in my preparation.  I stopped there as I would like to get confirmation that Initializing the disk is the next step.   If not then what should my next step be.  Thank you in advance.

Fail (reboot) during Server 2016 installation (C612, RSTe)

Hi folks,

I am having an ongoing issue with trying to install Server 2016.

Specs:

Motherboard: Supermicro X10DRi

Chipset: Intel C612

SATA:

- 4x Micron SSD's

- 1x SATADOM SSD (Supermicro MLC)

- 1x ATAPI DVDRW

sSATA:

- 4x Micron SSD's

UEFI setup: the Micron SSD's are in 2 RAID volumes, one per controller

Problem being, during Server 2016 setup I load the latest RSTe drivers, AOK. The volumes show up as expected, with the SATADOM by itself. I am able to add partitions to the SATADOM as well. But when I start the installation, at some point during the copying of the installation files from the DVD to the SATADOM, the machine will suddenly reboot. No BSOD, no nothing, just instant reboot.

Any idea what I can do get this working? I have tried working with the tech support from the vendor and they are more or less stumped.

Thanks!

- Non-UEFI boot.

- 2 Intel SSDSC2BB240G7 configured and initialized as RAID-1.

- Windows Server 2016 just installed with Intel RSTe 4.3.0.1223 drivers.

Trying to get first backup with Windows Backup - Done with Errors - The drive cannot find the sector requested.

Limited to No PS/2 Function DH55TC (H55, LPC bus)

The two DH55TC motherboards I own do not recognize PS/2 devices fully.

During POST, with a PS/2 keyboard connected, the two digit Port 80h indicator shows code 98 "resetting mouse" and code 94, "clearing keyboard input buffer". POST takes longer than with nothing plugged into the PS/2 port. Once POST completes, any OS will boot and not recognize any device.

While in POST, with a PS/2 keyboard connected, you can use the function keys to access BIOS setup and boot menu. POST still takes longer than it normally does. If F10 is pressed, the boot menu will load, but the keyboard will not respond. If F2 is pressed, BIOS setup allows the use of the arrow keys, enter, and escape. Cap lock, number lock and scroll lock LEDs on keyboard do no respond. Tab does not work. All the F keys do not work; you cannot use F10 as a quick save and exit. You can move around the setup tabs and select fields, but only manipulate settings with menus with the enter key. You cannot set the time, as none of the numbers or number pad works. Once you arrow key to Save and Exit, the computer reboots with a slow POST, booting into any OS with no keyboard detected at OS.

LPC drivers are in tact. No PS/2 port is shown anywhere in the Device Manager that I can find. It does list HID keyboard drivers. USB keyboards work fine.

BIOS is up to date on both motherboards, as well as chip set and all other drivers

I have not tried to use the communications or parallel port supported by the LPC. Both ports are shown in the Device manager, with their age old typical IRQs assigned.

I've tried a very large number of diverse keyboards. I have tried mice, which do not work either, but I'm only concentrating on keyboards. The motherboard was stripped to bare, tried different RAM, turned off the other ports controlled by the LPC, disabled and enabled USB options, reset BIOS to default and a few others I'm forgetting to mention.

Any ideas? It seems it should be correctable, since the same exact two DH55TC fail exactly in the same manner.

I am new to the community recently purchasing a Intel Core i7-7700K 4.2 GHz with MSI Intel Z270 Gaming M3 Motherboard.

The Device Performance & Health monitor is giving me the same problem as stated above - KabyLake PCI Express Root Port #10 - A2B1.

I have installed the following: MSI Command Centre Intel(R) Driver and Support Assistant Both of which are coming up with nothing and ultimately all drivers are up to date.

I have also installed the latest BIOS.

This is where I turn to yourself and ask for advice on what to try next in layman's terms please.

Mobile 965 chipset driver, extended mode issue in Win10 Creators update

$

After auto update to windows 10 fall creators update the extended screen mode doesn't remain set nor does it enable properly at first.

the Dell Inspiron 1525 (32bit)  has a mobile Intel express 965 CHipset.  The driver that was loaded (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1 )

Driver version 8.15.10.2697 provided by Intel published by Microsoft.

The Inspiron has a VGA port which on my system connects to a HP-LA2405 1920/1200 monitor.

Since displays were working before the Windows 10 Fall creators update, I believe the update tossed out the original Vista driver and put the one mentioned above in its place.

Symptom:

On boot monitor not enabled.

Using Display manager : MultipleDisplay mode:

If I choose "extend these displays" the external monitor will do nothing.

If I choose to Duplicate then the external monitor does as expected.

If I change form duplicate to extended the external monitor does as expected. and all works fine.

BUT

After reboot all setting is lost and I must go through the process of duplicate then extend again.

Is there a workaround or script to maintain this setting?

Should I go back and load the vista driver?

Or is this a Windows 10 OS  issue and would retreating to an earlier OS version get extended monitor function back?

PS: Intel inspection and driver update utility found nothing.

Dell laptop - sleep periodically failing - Intel Management Engine Interface fault

$

Quick Summary: Intel Management Engine Interface v11 (and possibly v10) interferes with sleep mode on Dell 15R laptop, where it periodically will not sleep and requires a disruptive hard boot. Downgrading the driver to v9.5 fixes this very frustrating issue; a fix which is very hard to discover. As yet there is no intel solution and no Windows update intel driver-set which resolves this.

This is to highlight an ongoing issue I had with my Dell Inspiron 15R laptop over the years I have had it.

Various times throughout Win8\8.1\10 it has periodically had massive issues with sleep mode unable to fully sleep the computer (power light remains on and the fan stays low). As many people, I use sleep mode all the time. Sleep mode has now become a necessity for many people, who prefer it over a full boot.

I have tried everything, and I mean everything to fix this:

- update all devicemgr drivers via windows update driver

- update AMD graphics

- update intel discrete graphics

- update intel via the new auto detect driver tool

- tried unchecking allow computer to turn off this device on some drivers (since turned these back to default)

Finally, I found this youtube video:

Solve Windows 10 Shutdown/Sleep Problem - YouTube

and also this forum;

Laptop won't wake up from sleep and won't fully shut down! - Microsoft Community

as you can see in all the comments, many people are frustrated at this issue and very happy to downgrade the Intel Management Engine Interface back to v9.5

I was having issues with the following version of the Intel Management Engine Interface:

ver 11.0.0.1157

date 7.7.15

Win 10 \ 64 bit

Downloaded the downgraded version on the Dell website specific to my laptop:

ver 9.5.23.1766 ,A02 (release 12 Feb 2014)

So far, sleep mode is now functioning perfectly again.

What an absolutely frustrating ordeal. The amount of times I've had to hard-boot my laptop because of this I've lost count of.

Please have someone review this issue, as mentioned earlier the amount of comments and frustration in forum comments is sizable.
