I'm getting a shutdown bug on a Z77 Chipset. (Gigabyte g1 sniper 3)

Before my computer is shutting down i hear my harddrives just spinning on again before my PC is going off.

They do not start completely again, they are being interrupted by the shutdown then.

I tested these versions:

12.5.0.1066

12.8.0.1016

12.8.4.1000

12.8.6.1000

With the original version of windows instalacion (12.0.1.1019), this bug not appear.

I updated Orom of the Main Board to 12.7.0.1936 but some error appear of shutdown.

In Bios, Sata it´s configured at RAID mode

Windows 8 or 8.1 - OS makes no difference. Fresh instalation to test diferent version drivers.

x2 SSD M4-CT128M4SSD2 RAID-0

x2 HDDs ST500DM002 RAID-0

x2 HDDs ST3250620AS

Can help me?

A Greeting

PS: 12.8.0.1016 (the release offered officially by the motherboard manufacturer, already double-checked this file (SetupRST.exe) matches the one downloaded from downloadcenter.intel.com)

current drivers for ICH10R

I have recently replaced the harddrive on an Asus G72GX notebook by larger one and get windows update failure. All similar themes that led to a solution had in common that the installed SATA driver does not play well with bigger drives.

But - which one is the proper driver package? "Intel chipset drivers" sems to be just a set of inf files, and the automatic detection tool does not work (I have tried both firefox and explorer, upgraded java as suggested, and downloaded the explorer plugin. When I try to detect again, I just see something loading for a while, and the same error again so I have to try manual.

The original driver is listed as IcH10R SATA AHCI driver 8.9.0.1023

Alienware Aurora R4 on Windows 8.1. Volumes with "Rebuild" status will be rebuilt within the operating system.

I have the Intel RST enterprise 3.5.0.1005 running a RAID 5 on an Alienware Aurora R4 on Windows 8.1. I get the message: Volumes with "Rebuild" status will be rebuilt within the operating system. When I used to run Windows 7, I had the Intel Matrix Storage Console that I could use to rebuild the RAID array. However, since I performed a clean install, I cannot get any Intel Matrix Storage Console and its apparent successor applications to install on my machine. I try downloading them from the Dell support site with all the drivers, as well as from the Intel site. All the app installations that I try basically say that they won't run on my machine. Nothing has changed in my hardware configuration. Does Windows 8.1 natively handle RAID rebuilds somehow? It hasn't rebuilt itself yet. If not, what Intel Matrix Storage Console replacement software would be appropriate for me? Thank you for your help

Q45 Chipset, seeking older Win7 driver to resolve DVI stuck in powersave problem

Hello,

I've been experiencing problems with a Dell Optiplex 960 with a Q45 chipset providing graphics.  Considering that BIOS booting, GRUB, and Ubuntu 12.04LTS have no issues, I've come to the conclusion that my monitor is being forced into power-save by the Win driver.  That being said, I'm trying to track down any older driver versions.  From where can I obtain these?

Thank you for any assistance you can offer.

Memory copy using Intel QuickData Technology

I am doing the experimentation on improving the memory-to-memory copy performance (NIC to memory also, but secondary). I have seen that Intel I/OAT provides the Quickdata technology feature to offload the copies using DMA engine.

1. I haven't seen many i/oat related discussions in past few years, is it replaced with other more improved technology in new chipsets?

2. I need the Quickdata technology feature, how can I detect that my processor has Quickdata technology? In lspci, it is not showing anything related to Intel Quickdata Technology.

3. Which latest system/server should I buy to get the Quickdata Technology feature? If you can tell about NIC to memory copy (similar to TCP/IP offloads in i/oat), that will be very helpful.

Many thanks in advance.

Dear All

       Following this case https://communities.intel.com/thread/18683

<<< latest Intel Rapid Storage does not have support for 3tb hard disk drives on RAID mode. Only for AHCI. Future releases of the Intel® Rapid Storage software will support >2TB hard drives on RAID.

Note that the latest RAID software is version 10.1.0.1008>>>>

I using windows 7 32bit with raid 1 with 2x WD RE 1TB hdd and non raid mode 1x WD RE 3TB hdd, i had 5 pcs pc got same problem the 3TB hdd always unstable

create /copy file to 3B hdd is ok, system freeze when del any file(can't del),    cos 2x hdd running  raid mode and 3Tb hdd under mass storage driver, so i can't change back to AHCI driver, but q57 latest RST version still  10.1.0.1008 have not any update, so what can i do? thank you

Maximum USB Device Count on Intel 8 Series Controllers?

I’m troubleshooting some USB scaling issues on the Intel 8 Series chipset.

Please advise what is the maximum number of USB devices that can be connected to the Intel USB 3.0 xHCI controller on the 8 Series chipset?

I’d also be interested in the maximum device count for the Intel USB 2.0 EHCI controller on 8 Series.

Intel Management Engine Driver Won't Install

I have an Asus X79-Deluxe motherboard with an i7-4930 processor and of course an X79 chipset.

The drivers for the chipset install without issues but the MEI drivers will not install.   I get a message that the computer does not meet the minimum requirements for the software.    In the Bios there is a listing for ME but it says N/A.   I don't see any options in the bios to activate or in anyway configure ME.   I assume ME is the Management Engine and that either there is a bad chip or firmware which causes the issue with not being able to install the drivers.    Is there a way to fix this problem or at least confirm if it is a hardware or software issue??

Does the Intel USB 3.0 driver for 7-series chipsets support xHCI hand-off?

$

Hi all,

Intel’s 7-Series chipset supports USB 3.0.  On Windows 7, you need to install Intel’s USB 3.0 driver to enable USB 3.0 functionality.  The driver can be found here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=21129

My question is simple but I suspect the answer might be esoteric:  Does this driver support xHCI hand-off?

More info for those who are interested:

The BIOS normally "owns" the USB 3.0 (xHCI) controller when you first power on the PC.  Eventually the OS loads.  Lets assume the OS supports USB 3.0.  If the OS also supports xHCI hand-off, it will obtain exclusive control of the USB 3.0 controller from the BIOS.  If it doesn't support xHCI hand-off, bad things will happen (i.e. the BIOS and OS may try to use the controller at the same time).

Now Windows 7 doesn't natively support USB 3.0.  However, the Intel driver enables USB 3.0 support.  But,does it also enable xHCI hand-off support?

The question is important because of this:

ehci-xhci-handoff.jpg

These are special USB settings in my PC's BIOS.  The BIOS manual says this:

My thinking is that, if the Intel USB 3.0 driver has xHCI hand-off support, then I should disable the XHCI Hand-off setting in the BIOS.  While we're at it, seems obvious that the EHCI Hand-off setting also needs to be disabled.  Then again, my thinking could be totally wrong... so I'm hoping for some definitive answers on this from the experts! :-)

Which IRST RAID driver will let me load Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit on Asus Z97-WS and RAID 1 array?

$

I have assembled a computer from new parts, including an Asus Z97-WS motherboard (Intel Z97 chipset) and two Western Digital VelociRaptor 1TB (WD1000CHTZ) hard disk drives. I have set the BIOS to RAID, and with IRST created a RAID 1 volume using the two hard disk drives. The drives are plugged into the SATA ports on the motherboard controlled by the Intel chipset.

When I try to load Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit, at what used to be the F6 stage, where one loads RAID drivers, I cannot find an IRST RAID driver that Windows will recognize as a proper driver. I often get the error code 0x80300001. Without the proper driver, Windows does not recognize the RAID volume as a bootable device, and therefore refuses to install Windows on it.

I have tried every driver on the disc that Asus supplies with the MB, the latest drivers from the Asus website, and every latest/current Intel IRST RAID driver I could find on Intel.com. None permits me to load Windows on the RAID array. POST sees both drives, and I could load Windows to either drive as a lone drive (after breaking the RAID array). IRST says the array is normal and bootable, though BIOS does not recognize the array as a bootable device--which is natural, since I haven't found a driver for it yet.

I would GREATLY appreciate a solution to this problem.

Thank you,

Eric

I have a Compaq CQ60-120es. The chipset is GL40. As specified bythehttp://ark.intel.com/es-es/products/35501/Intel-82GL40-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller-Hubpage,thesupported memoryis667MHz(so I understand). As indicated bythehttps://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/chipsets/value-chipsets/mobile-chipset-gl40.htmlpage, compatiblememory is667MHz and800MHz.

On my laptopI installed800MHzmemory, but is recognized byWindowsVistaas667MHz.I have checkedwithCPU-Z programthatreallysupports800MHz this memory.

BSOD after switching controller from AHCI to RAID mode.

$

I installed windows on a new HDD with the intent of mirroring it on a 2nd matching one. However after installing the IRST software/drivers I realized I need to change my controller from AHCI to RAID mode. I went ahead and changed it over and was greeted with a BSOD upon boot, "STOP 0x0000007B".

Did some digging and identified a possible solution ( Error message occurs after you change the SATA mode of the boot drive), go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV open the Dword named "Start" and change it's value to "0". As well as locating HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci and doing the same. Though when I arrived at both keys, they where already set to "0".

I have fumbled around a bit trying to get windows to boot, but am unable to. I tried the CTRL-I ROM interface on startup, but it does not appear to support any sort of migration like the IRST software and would erase the data on both of my drives.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Chipset driver update V10 vs V9.x

$

Historically when there have been newer versions of chipset drivers available I found out that the setup.exe would not update the existing drivers. So to update the drivers on my various systems I would get the latest drivers as a zip file and extract them; then I would open Windows device manager and go to each Intel device and right click and select update then browse to the extracted All directory and allow Windows to install the latest driver from there.

Now I see that version 10 of the Intel chipset drivers have been released and I had downloaded and installed it on a new system I just built but I noticed after looking at the various Intel hardware that any number of devices are still using the Microsoft driver rather than the Intel driver. I looked for a zip version of the version 10 chipset drivers but the zip version just seems to contain the exe setup and not a zipped version of the drivers like all the previous versions. I even tried to use winrar to extract files contained in the exe setup file but all I get is a slew of u0,u1, u2, u3 etc files which are of no use.

So how do I get the version 10 drivers to update all existing Intel hardware or where can I get the version 10 drivers as a zip file i.e. inf and cat files like previous versions so I can manually update my systems?
