Intel Management Engine Interface Driver

Intel MEI Driver issueHi All,

I am having a problem with my Intel Management Engine Interface Driver and need a little help to diagnose the problem. I have an Asus P8Z77-V motherboard and windows 8.1 installed on my computer with all the latest updates, drivers and patches installed. I have the latest Bios installed for my motherboard. I have 8GB of ram and an Intel i7 3.5 processor installed. I am running windows in UEFI mode with both secure boot and fast boot enabled. Asus have provided me with the Intel MEI driver V9.5.10.1658 which is the latest for my motherboard and each time I install this driver I get an error in device manager indicating the driver has been terminated due to a reported error and gives it a code 43. when looking into it a little further in the event viewer it states that the Intel MEI driver failed to perform handshake with the firmware. I have been googling this problem for weeks now and have found many other people with this problem and have also been talking to Asus as well but nobody seams to be able to give me the answer to my problem. if anyone can help or provide me with a solution or problem solving way forward to diagnose the issue I would very much appreciate there help.

kind regards: Johnyboy

Hi,

Do both controllers Intel RSTe and eSRT2 support 2TB+ hard drives on this motherboard?

Are there any restrictions on this? I am having trouble confirming this.

Thanks for your help.

SSD showing as SCSI device in device manager

New PC build with BIOS SATA mode set to RAID mode. Clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit with the f6flpy-x64 driver loaded during install.

Currently no other SATA drives are connected. In device manger my SSD is showing as:

Samsung SSD 840 EVO 120G SCSI Disk Device.

What I want is the SSD to be SATA AHCI.

Why is the driver installing the SSD as a SCSI device and how do I fix this?

Why does XHCI host controller take a lot of time compared to EHCI to issue an IN token to a device following a NAK?

Hi,

Scenario:

I have an image sensor with USB highspeed capability which  is sending data continuously to the host PC  and has a break of sending data periodically for short duration. During this time, the device sends a NAK for the IN token received. In case of the break ,an USB3 xHCI has a way bigger polling delay ( 20 microsecond) than EHCI ( 2 microsecond) before issuing the next IN token.

The snapshot of USB traffic captured in XHCI is attached below. Note that it takes 20.650 microsecond to issue IN token ( packet 10) following NAK ( packet 9)

Untitled1.png

On the other hand, for EHCI, this delay is much lesser ( 2.184 microsecond) as shown below

Untitled2.png

I am using Intel XHCI 7 series

Accelerate two independent drives with two independent SSDs using RST

I have a Biostar T77B (don't give me any crap, it was really cheap), a 3570K, a Seagate 3TB 7200 RPM HDD, and an OCZ Agility 3 60GB SSD, as well as the other junk that makes up a computer.  I just bought a second Seagate 3TB 7200 RPM drive and a Kensington SSDNow V300 60GB SSD.  I have my OCZ drive set up to accelerate my system drive and everything works beautifully.

I was hoping to recreate the magic with this new drive, but the RST application doesn't seem to want to accelerate more than one drive at a time.

Is this a system or hardware limitation, or have I just not looked in the right place?

I unaccelerated my existing drive pair and got everything back to the state it would have been in before I set up drive acceleration the first time.  But once I've set up acceleration on one drive, there is no option to accelerate additional drives.  Is this impossible?

Needed: HM70('Panther Point) Chipset driver for Windows XP @ Lenovo B590

Hello,

I have to use Windows XP on a new Lenovo B590(model variant 3761) notebook.

Lenovo offers XP drivers for this Notebook on it's support site, but unfortunately there is no chipset driver for Windows XP (only for Win 7 and Win 8.x).

On the Intel website I also did not find the Windows XP HM70 chipset driver.

Does someone here know where I can download this driver foy my Lenovo B590 notebook?

Is ther another compatible chipset driver for Windows XP available which I can use for my B590?

Many thanks for any hint!

Regards

Sergeant

Latest AHCI drivers for ICH8M-E for Advanced format HDDs

Hi,

My laptop has got an ICH8M-E SATA controller. i am planning to upgrade to 1 TB internal hard drive which is obviously an Advanced format one. My original SATA AHCI driver is 8.9.x version. It seems that only 9.6 and  version of iastor.sys supports AF HDDs. With a bit of searching i found that Rapid storage driver version 10.1.0.1008 was the last version that officially supported ICH8M.

My queries are should i just use 9.6 or 10.1. Is there a way to go up to higher versions or is it not needed. Also will the 10.1 give more stability than the 9.6.

My SATA speed seems to be 1.5 GBps will that support these newer generation 3/6Gbps hard disks.

Understanding the Chipset drivers

Hi ,

i have a notebook with 965M chipset. Its a lenovo ideapad y510 which originally came witth vista. I am currently running the same with windows 8. Is it okay if i use the  Intel® Chipset Device Software (INF Update Utility- infinst_autol.exe -overall) or should i use the one that came for the oem (intel chiset software).

The target device mentioned in the OEM intel chipset s/w is 965m and for the one in the infinst_autol.exe is 8 series chipset. Or the latest inf update utility contains all the required infs for the 965m also.

Also does the inf update utility contain any device drivers (including SATA AHCI) or only inf files is concern is that when i install chipset inf update utility it replaces my iastor.sys (Rapid storage) with storahci.sys. Your inputs will really be helpful.

Help with Matrix Storage/RST with PM45 chipset (ICH9M-E/H SATA AHCI)

$

Hi,

This is a compound question touched on by several other individual threads here. I have a Qosmio G50-12K with a Mobile PM45 Express chipset which originally arrived with Vista Ultimate 32bit (soon after delivery, Toshiba sent me upgrade disks for Win 7 Ultimate). This meant that I was thankful to leave Vista and looked for Win7 drivers on the Toshiba site, however it now appears that I never upgraded any Matrix Storage driver beyond 8.9.0.1023 as it is the last driver available.

A few weeks ago, I upgraded the original HDD to a Seagate 1TB hybrid (cloning the Win7 OS) and everything seemed fine, except for some Windows Explorer glitches (Explorer has stopped responding and closed as did programs) though I've been getting these for a good few months already before the migration, My main problem started a few days ago where Windows Update stopped working at all, as did the Windows Troubleshooting functions. Needless to say, I tried all options/solutions with no result, other than I found mention of the need to upgrade the Matrix Storage driver so as to cater to the larger hybrid Seagate disk.

I slowly became aware that Matrix Storage was replaced by RST but still am apprehensive about bunging a new driver in that would make the notebook inoperable, e.g. 12.9.0.1001. My current drivers in Device Manager are:

Mobile Intel 4 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port - 2A41: 9.1.0.1003
Mobile Intel 4 Series Chipset Processor to DRAM Controller - 2A40: 9.1.0.1003

ICH9M-E/H SATA AHCI Controller: 8.9.0.1023

ICH9 Family Port Contollers 1-6: 8.6.1.1002

Can somebody please advise how I should go about updating drivers in order to exploit full functionality, with a view to upgrading current OS

to an SSD along with a dual boot 64bit Win7. I'm avoiding Win 8 until I buy a new laptop or until it's ironed out/superseded by an XP/Win7 equivalent. There is little point in posting on the Toshiba forum at this stage.

Intel Rapid Start Tech | Overclocking DIMM

  • Is there any information about Intel Rapid Start Technology and overclocking DIMM even using XMP profile?
  • Including users that have experience with Intel Rapid Start functioning in the same configuration with DIMMs overclocked?

The symptom I need information about is: after Intel Rapid Start transitions to S4 state with any DIMMs overclock setting enabled, including XMP profile 1, or 2 the computer wakes right back up, then complains that the overclock has failed. Then press F1 to run setup, or F2 to load defaults.

If there is any official information that warns users that Intel Rapid Start is not compatible with overclocked RAM can someone share a hyperlink to that source? Is there any information about specific timings that need to be applied that will allow Intel Rapid Start to function? Are there any users at all that have enabled overclocked RAM in conjunction with using Intel Rapid Start Technology which would indicate my particular motherboard is the culprit?

Lastly why does the Windows task manager performance tab indicate the XMP specified MHz instead of what the BIOS indicates?

Set up Intel Rapid Start?

Hi,

So basically I have a HP envy 15 quad edition, I have a 1TB hard drive and a 24GB ssd for caching purposes. Something messed it up a few days ago and I had to reset the disk and finally got Rapid Storage to work, but every time I try to use Rapid Start, it says "your system does not appear to have Intel Rapid Start enabled' or something along those lines. The rapid start option is enabled in the BIOS.

When I enable Intel Rapid Storage it lets me choose if I want to allocate the whole drive to that or choose, it's between 22GB or 18.6GB, or custom. Should I choose 18.6 to leave space for Rapid Start? I'm not sure how it works or how to properly configure it. If anyone can help me figure this out, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Aimee

Moving RAID from ICH9R to Z87

Hi,

Im thinking about buying a new motherboard but I have no idea if it will handle my RAID just like that.

Currently I have Gigabyte x38-DS5 with ICH9R controller and 4x Samsung HD502HJ in RAID 10 connected to it.

I want to move everything without data loss to a Z87 motherboard.

1. Will this work?

2. What is actually the name of Raid controller on Z87? (I couldnt find the name anywhere)

3. Are new Raid controllers compatible with older controllers like ICH9R or ICH10R?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

How to correct a Missing Hard Drive in RAID 5 config

$

Hi,

After a problem on my BIOS forcing me to reset to default settings, I had the very dissatisfying surprise to see my RAID 5 down.

I had 4 WD Green 2To connected and working for now a while.

Now I have 2 out of 4 in the RAID conf but 2 other setup as independant drives.

I'm searching for a way to reconfigure those independant HDD back into the RAID conf without losing data.

Could someone tell me if breaking the RAID conf then rebuilding a RAID 5 would work (and get the data back)

Someone has a white paper explaining how the Intel Matrix tool operate concerning RAID 5 creation and deletion?

Any information would be welcomed.

I need help resolving the following error on a user account. I don't know how it started, I know I noticed it when I was going to re-install ME after a BIOS update yesterday (3/17/14). There are no errors installing the software on a new admin user account. What can I do to resolve the errors on the user account I intend to use?

There is also an error uninstalling the software from Add/Remove Programs in the intended user account:
