Issue with Intel Management Engine Interface

Hi there,

I hope this is the right spot to post my problem.

I'm having a problem with my Thinkpad L412. I installed Windows 10 from scratch, no other programs or tools besides Windows 10 are installed. (The issue I'm having also occurs when I tried the same with Win 7)

When I turn off the PC by Windows> Shut down, the system shuts off and the screen becomes dark, but the PC stays on and stops reacting, the only way to turn it off is by pushing the physical button on the PC and then the PC will power off but will automatically start again and I need to push the button again to power it off and only then it will stay off.

The PC will start without issues.

I found posts that this behaviour could be caused by the Intel Management Engine Interface, which funny enough, has an yellow admiration symbol in Device Management. It also gives a message which says that the device can not be started (Code 10).

The driver 6.0.0.1179 seems to be the correct one, though. After deleting it will be reinstalled by Windows so I can not get rid of it. Lenovo also states that this is the correct driver.

I tried ideas like disconnecting battery and CMOS battery, downgrading BIOS from 1.39 to 1.35 but nothing helped.

I als tried the Intel Driver Update Utility. It suggested installing a file Intel Chipset Device Software, but that installation failed with 'unknown error'

So I'm running out of ideas and any suggestion and any help is very much appreciated!

Intel ME Test SW

Hello,

We am working to make Intel Server Motherboard produced by OEM vendor to be tested under Linux in PD Line and encountering one problem to support Intel Management Engine basic function testing on it as current IPMI tool is only able to read ME revision only without function testing.

The chipset is C612.

May I know if there is a similar test software available for Intel ME?

Thanks in advance,

Sam

Intel Integrated Sensor Hub Driver leaking memory on non-paged pool

My 3 month old Dell Inspiron 5378 was thrashing the SSD from now and then, this prompted me to check the memory usage and I found that the non-paged pool was sitting at 5.3Gbytes which is unusual.

Long story short, I used poolmon.exe and found out that the Intel Integrated Sensor Hub Driver (ISH.sys) is gobbling up the non-paged pool. A restart will reset the memory usage, but you can see it creeping up as time goes by. I have not identified what specifically triggers the memory leak in the driver, but it has been consistently triggered by launching Adobe Premier Pro from my experience.

Uninstalling the driver fixes this memory leak issue and now my non-paged pool idles at a healthy 270Mbytes.

My system is running on the newest drivers provided by Dell, and the Intel Integrated Sensor Hub Driver installed is Chipset_Driver_7CTG1_WN32_3.1.0.3363_A01.EXE provided by Dell. Maybe you Intel engineers can look into this, because this memory leak can paralyze computers.

Thanks and regards.

Heng.

KabyLake PCI Express Root Port #10

I am using 7700K this time.

The main board is Asrock Fatality Gaming K6

The OS is Windows 10 Home.

But in Device Manager, there is an exclamation point.

So if you look

"KabyLake PCI Express Root Port # 10 - A2b1" This is the message."

So if you look at properties

"The device does not work properly because Windows can not load the required driver (code 31).

The specified request is an invalid operation on the target device. "

I get this message.

How does this exclamation disappear?

Is there no problem without using this?

I've reinstalled Windows several times to fix this.

But it did not work out.

I want you to solve it.

Thanks for reading.

Delayed audio packets using Intel USB 3.0 driver in Windows 7

Hi Everyone,

I work for a software company who makes audio measurement software. As you can imagine, the reliability of the audio transport is very important to us (and I imagine to other users as well). We discovered that using USB audio devices on a variety of computers would sometimes cause a series of audio packets to be delayed. To the average user listening to music this might be a brief annoying click, if they even noticed it. For us, it is a serious measurement error.

After lots and lots of debugging and testing we narrowed down the issue to any Windows 7 computer using the Intel series 7, 8, and C220 (so far) chipsets which provide USB 3.0. The driver in use for USB 3.0, iusb3xhc.sys, appears to be the culprit. We tried updating the USB 3,0 driver by obtaining the latest driver installer from Intel's website (v5.0.3.42 for the 8 series and v1.0.10.255 for the 7 series) but that did not resolve the issue.

Here's how we came to the conclusion that iusb3xhc.sys was the culprit. We had 2 different machines (one a laptop and one a desktop) both running Windows 7 64-bit which could reproduce this delayed audio packet issue consistently. On the laptop, we upgraded to Windows 10 which includes Microsoft inbox drivers for USB 3.0. We could not reproduce the issue afterwards. On the desktop, we kept Windows at Windows 7 64-bit but installed a 3rd party PCIe USB 3.0 controller card which installs its own driver. We connected our audio interface to the USB port on the 3rd party controller card. We could not reproduce the issue afterwards.

Additionally, I took several traces in Windows using xperf so that I could analyze the failure mode in Windows Performance Analyzer. What the trace showed me was that when this failure occurs it is because the audiodg.exe (the Windows Audio Subsystem) thread performing the output pump is waiting an abnormally long time for a thread which has iusb3xhc.sys in it's stack. I cannot determine exactly what as I do not have Intel debugging symbols (.pdb files) for iusb3xhc.sys.

Could someone from Intel comment on this issue and provide further assitance? Ideally, I'd like to see an updated driver package that resolves this issue. Right now, we are forced to tell customers NOT to buy Intel systems.

Thanks!

Anyone have any ideas?

I installed chipset intel but forgot to restart my PC, will that lead to unstability/bugs/worse productivity/bad outcome later?

So once I re-installed Windows 7 64 bit professional, I decided to instal chipset intel of course, but I accidently forgot to restart my PC and install audio realtek azalia drivers instead... The mere fact I forgot to restart my PC after installing intel, would that cause some fundomental bugs or overal worse compatability or worse productivity or a few percent worse working capacity, or some other unfortunate outcome that I might discover later?

I really hope I'm just overreacting over absolutely nothing, but I prefer be sure anyway.

What exactly should be done to initialize southbridge ICH6-M in AHCI mode? (I suppose that's what BIOS does every time before handing control over to OS)

USB 3.0 extensible Host Controller Stack in Windows 7 and compatible ID descriptor issue

$

Hi there,

I have got an issue with a custom USB 2.0 device (with our own firmware) regarding enumeration and driver installation in windows 7 using USB 3.0 extensible Host Controller driver.

The devices uses the BOS descriptor (OS 1.0) to provide a compatible ID (RNDIS) for selecting the appropriate inf file / driver (rndiscmp.inf / rndiscmp6.sys). This works fine in Windows 7 using (native Microsoft) USB 2.0 driver and also in Windows 8 using USB 3.0 or 2.0 with MS driver (on many different installations). But it does not work in Windows 7 using intel USB 3.0 extensible Host Controller (using a VIA Chipset/driver stack it works!). Analyzing USB traffic I can observe that the Descriptor is requested from the device. Hereupon the compatible ID is sent to the PC but it can not be found in registry and hence it is not used to select the driver automatically (evaluating setupapi.dev). The driver must be chosen manually then.

Actually the USB requests are the same as in the USB 2.0 case but something goes wrong in intel USB 3.0 driver stack.

Does anybody have any idea? Or any additional debugging possibility?

Thank you very much!

Martin

Intel Driver Update Utility 2.7.2.4 fails to install Chipset Device software

I have an Asus Essentio 5675 running Windows 10. My OS is up to date. My Asus drivers are up to date. I have tried to install the chipset update which appears after I ran your scan, but it says it failed - it wouldn't even download it to my computer. What do I need to do to get the update installed? I cannot use my hi speed network. Currently it maxes out around 50Mps, all my other computers are hitting close to 200. I had my ISP send out a tech, they said it's my computer, try updating it.

I need to read and write to an I2C eeprom.

I am using Windows 10 Enterprise, and I see Intel driver = iaLPS22i_i2c.sys is loaded.

I need IOCTL's and data structures for the IOCTL's, typically found in a C/C++ header file (.h).
