I have 64bit PC with an Intel(r) Core(TM) i7-3820 @ 3.60GHz with 8 GB of RAM. The machine is using Intel's Rapid Storage Technology enterprise SATA option ROM 3.5.0.1005 across 2 x Seagate 1TB Barracuda drives configured for RAID 1. The Intel driver is iaStorF.sys 3.6.0.1086. In September ID 1 failed "Error Occurred" and was replaced by the PC supplier. The machine continued to boot and run, albeit a bit slower. Three weeks ago the second (ID 0) failed and was returned to Seagate as the PC was out of warranty the drives not. Same "error occurred". The drive was returned by Seagate as "working". Not being a RAID expert I have a number of questions.
What does the "Error occurred" really mean? Had the drive failed or was there some other issue.
Is there an alternative fix to replacing the drive? Would removing it and reinstalling, rebuilding fix it?
I have no Intel software and the only access to RST is through the BIOS and log in - is this the only access.
Should I be upgrading the drivers (the Device Drivers tell me they are all up to date.
What should I do next time i get this problem.
All advice gratefully received.
