Novice poster here with limited technology knowledge, so be gentle. Any feedback much appreciated! I've done a ton of internet searching today and can't seem to find a definitive answer to this question.
I am looking to add a dual-bay eSATA HDD dock to an older notebook computer to increase storage and provide for backups.
Notebook: Toshiba L505-ES5018, Win7 x64 Home Premium. Single eSATA port which is enabled.
Controller is (I think), as noted: ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller with driver version 8.9.2.1002 (8/7/2009).
Question: With this controller and/or driver, any chance that computer will recognize both bays in the dual eSATA dock? Dock specs call for eSATA port to support the "port multiplier function."
Thanks for any help! I'd like (ideally) to figure this out before spending on this docking station or pursuing a different solution.
