WINDOWS 10 OS-WHICH INTEL RAID DRIVERS TO USE?
My motherboard is an ASUS P8Z68,with an Intel 2600K CPU, and an INTEL STORAGE CONTROLLER (supporting a RAID 0, two SSD array) and a MARVEL STORAGE CONTROLLER ( supporting a RAID 1, two HDD array)
Windows 10 upgrade was completed with no problems and everything is running fine. Periodically I have/need to secure erase my Raid 0 SSD's since TRIM is not supported on this MOBO. Under WIN 7Pro I used a USB drive created with the MOBO support disk to load RAID (IRST) drivers (years old-2013) during reimaging from a previously Windows 7 created ISO, and everything works fine. This request addresses the INTEL STORAGE CONTROLLER.
Now with Win 10 Pro upgrade installed I will need to secure erase my RAID 0 SSD's and thus will again be required to load the appropriate RAID drivers during the re-imaging procedure. I also have created a USB drive with the latest WIN10 IRST drivers
MY QUESTIONS ARE:
1- Can I load the older WIN7 drivers as before at the LOAD DRIVERS stage of re-imaging using a WIN 10 repair disk and a ISO created with my WIN 10 pro upgrade.
2- OR should I be using the usb drive with W10 IRST drivers
3- Will either set of drivers work?
OTHER QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE TIME:
4- Will the answer to #1 above change after the 30 day window (to revert back to WIN 7 which I will not be doing) has expired?
5- If the correct procedure is to continue to use the original RAID drivers for reimaging that have been working; THEN should I install the new/current Win 10 IRST drivers or just leave it as with the drivers that currently work?
SYSTEM INFORMATION THAT MAY BE OF USE
DISK DRIVES: RAID O: Microsoft 10.0.1.10240.16384 (6-21-2006)
STORAGE CONTROLLERS: Intel desktop/workstation/server express chipset raid controller> Intel 10.6.0.1002 (5-20-2011) and Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller 10.0.10240.16384 (6-21-2006)
WINDOWS>SYSTEM 32>DRIVERS:
- iaStor.sys IRST driver x64 10.6.0.1002 (7-3-2013); iaStoreA.sys IRST drive rx64 11.6.0.1030 (12-16-2012)
- iaStorAV.sys IRST driver x64 13.2.0.1022 (7-10-2015); iaStorV.sys IRST driver x64 8.6.2.1019 (7-10-2015)
NOTE: I am afraid to just go and test the procedure(S) and see what works, mess up and end up losing the use of my computer and have to do a clean install. Once I break the RAID array, I need to have a means to reimage the new array after secure erase OR else I am really stuck. Thank you in advance for anyone's/everyone's help in this matter. DANY
