Hi,  my laptop is a samsung chronos 7 np700z5c-s02ub and by default it comes with the intel RST installed. I had to format the pc and since then I can't install it again.

The app responds with "unsupported platform" error.

I try the last setupRST and the original samsung setupRST 12.8.0.1016 and still nothing. Same error.

Any help on installing this?

Thanks!

How to use Intel Atom E3800 Windows IO driver for I2C?

$

Hi,

after trying to figure out how to communicate with the I2C driver using the Win API for several days, I hope you can help me,.

The problem is that no devices can be found using the global unique identifier I2C_LPSS_INTERFACE_GUID defined in the I2Cpublic.h header file which was included in the driver package and that should be used within the user-mode Win API functions according to the Software Developer's Manual.

To get the device name and create a handle for that device I used the following procedure:

1. Get the device interface class corresponding to that GUID:

     hDvcInfoSet = SetupDiGetClassDevs(&I2C_LPSS_INTERFACE_GUID, NULL, NULL, DIGCF_ALLCLASSES)

2. Loop through all the devices information elements, create an interface for each element and get details about each interface:

     while (SetupDiEnumDeviceInfo(hDvcInfoSet, i, &devInfo)) {

          if (devInfo.ClassGuid == I2C_LPSS_INTERFACE_GUID) {

               SetupDiCreateDeviceInterface(hDvcInfoSet, &devInfo, &I2C_LPSS_INTERFACE_GUID, NULL, 0, &dvcInterfaceData)

               SetupDiGetDeviceInterfaceDetail(hDvcInfoSet, &dvcInterfaceData, requiredSize, NULL, NULL)

               i++;

          }

     }

In the details of an interface the device path can be found which can be used to create a handle.

The problem was, that there were no device information elements with that GUID, so I took a look into setup information file used to install the I2C controller driver (iaioi2c.inf).

There is also a ClassGuid defined, but it does not correspond to the one in the header file.

Therefore I tried the other GUID and then I could find several device information elements that use this identifier and created an interface for each to get the device paths.

Those paths where either part of root, acpi or pci which already confuses since I thought I was only filtering for I2C devices which should all be part of pci.

Anyway even the devices being part of pci had other hardware Id's than specified in the iaioi2c.inf file and the datasheet of the Intel Atom E3800 family.

There, it says (on page 81 - PCI configuration space) the seven I2C ports have the device IDs 0F41h-0F47h.

Hence, the I2C ports should have HW IDs like that (which are also specified in the iaioi2c.inf file):

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0F41

But the output when printing the device path of an device interface I got was something like this:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0F4C&SUBSYS_0F4C8086&REV_11#3&11583659&0&e2#{<the class GUID>}

So my questions are:

1. Why can't I find devices when I follow the software developer's manual procedure?

2. Why do I get other HW IDs of the I2C ports if I use the class GUID defined in the iaioi2c.inf file?

3. Is there a better manual/guide how to use the Intel Atom E3800 I2C controller in Windows?

The driver package including the header files and the software developer's manual can be found here:

Thank you! (Only for reading all this stuff)

I recently updated windows 10 to version 1703.  Everytime I start the computer (Dell laptop XPS l502x) I get an error notification that exrv.exe won't start.  I have tried updating the Intel Driver Update Utility but the problem persists.  Is there a fix or do I need to be patient until there is one.

C600 series chipset HM 70 express vs i3/i5/i7

Hi.

Like many others I tried to upgrade my B960 to i3 2328m & i7 2670m.

Like many others I got 30 min perfectly working laptop after upgrade. (it restarts each 30 minutes).

Downgrade back to B960 solves this problem (no unwilling restarts)

Some users say that its a "low budget laptop" restriction for upgrade incorporated by Intel in HM 70 (at least as an option for oem vendors).

Many others say that resoldering to HM 75/76/77 chipset is the only option to upgrade to "I" CPUs (that reaffirms "low budget" statement)

I tried to think about it for a moment:
we have "limited" chipset
it has a timer, that turns off the power

I bet it is part of the BIOS that checks for "right" plugged CPU.

Also I guess its a chipset firmware CPU verification - so that must be (un / modified) Intel ME firmware.

So my question is:

Where can I get functional description of the HM-70 CPU binding feature in ME firmware?

Bug with RST since v14 which doesn't allow HDDs to spin down

Hello

Tested with different disks and with all versions between 14.0 and 15.2 : the bug is attested. The spin-down function was OK in 13.6.

Do you know why this bug hasn't been solved within more than 19 lonnnnnnnnnnng month ????!!!

Yet it has been reported long time ago !

New RST 14.0.0.1143 doesn't allow HDDs to spin down (bug?)

Unable to install ITBM 1.0.0.1031 (Turbo Boost 3.0)

Attempting to install ITBM provided by Gigabyte results in an error "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."

CPU: 7900X

Motherboard: Gigabyte X299 Aorus Gaming 7 (BIOS F7D)

RAM: 32GB Corsair CMU32GX4M4C3000C15

Disk: Multiple SSD from SATA to M.2

OS: Windows 10 Pro x64 (fully updated as of 7/14/2017)

I've installed the chipset, ME and all available drivers provided either from Gigabyte or directly from the manufacturer. There are no unknown devices in device manager. Turbo Boost 3.0 and hyperthreading are manually set to enabled in BIOS and all other CPU settings are left on stock settings. XMP Memory profile is loaded.

This happened even with the F6 BIOS version. I updated to F7D and did a fresh format of Windows 10 x64 Pro only to run into this exact same error message.

Please advise on why my system is not able to install Turbo Boost 3.0 or what further information will assist you in debugging this. What checks is this software performing to determine that my system does not meet the minimum requirements?

Thanks,

Intel RST installation incorrectly sets hard drive media type Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Hope someone can help me here.

After a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro my media type is correctly set under the analyse and optimise function. This is using the in box drivers of Windows 8.1. When I install the latest RST and update the RAID drivers, the media type changes to SSD which is incorrect. The analyse and optimise buttons are now greyed out and I can no longer defrag the hard drives.

I have taken many steps to try and correct this issue but still no luck. The BIOS is set to UEFI and it correctly identifies the HDD. I have also used the F6 driver installation of the latest RAID driver during the Windows install. Media type is still set to SSD.

Intel RST status correctly states that SATA HDD are connected. So is it a Windows problem?

Very frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

Surely Im not the only person in the world with this problem.

Kind Regards

How to monitor Intel services

$

Hi,

I have to configure a RMM software on a couple of machines which have some Intel stuff on-board. I thought the easiest way would be to monitor the Windows Event logs, but I don't know in which event logs and under which source name the Intel stuff reports.

Some Examples:

* Intel Network Connections

* Intel Graphic Driver

* Intel Management Engine Components

* Intel Rapid Storage Technology

* Intel Security Assist

* Intel USB 3.0 Host Controller Adaptation Driver

* ...

I know not everything is important, and needs to be monitored. But for Example The Intel Rapid Storage Technology should be in charge of the harddisks, and it would be nice to know if there is a problem.

Thanks for any information/help,

Christian.

Intel SD Host Controller driver for Windows 7 x64 needed

Hi,

I'm looking for driver for Intel SD Host Controller for Windows 7 x64

Device ID: ACPI\VEN_8086&DEV_0F14 or ACPI\80860F14 as it appears in Windows 10 installed there now.

Hardware identifier apps detect that that's part of Braswell chipset.

Please help with finding the driver.

What I checked:

1. Intel and Dell driver download resources for drivers for chipset, including extraction of drivers from all relevant driver packages.

2. Intel's and Dell's Update apps to find drivers.

3. Whatever Windows 7 installation app gets from the internet when pointed to go online at the start of Windows 7 installation, as there is an option to get drivers from internet at the beginning if Widows 7 installation is running from under Windows 10.

4. Alternative websites and forums for drivers.

5. Driver packages from other vendors for their laptops using likely the same hardware.

6. Drivers for Windows 10 and Windows 8.

7. Dell's support including phone based ones.

8. BIOS update - done, didn't help.

Nothing helped.

Details:

I can't get drivers for Windows 7 using Windows Update as now I have Windows 10 installed on that laptop. I can't use any kind of driver downloader app as now I have Windows 10 on a laptop I need drivers for, and that downloaders can get drivers only for OS version they are installed on. I need that driver to install Windows 7 x64 on Dell Inspiron 14 (3452) laptop.

Now when I start Windows 7 installation from under Windows 10 it comes to a list of paritions and when I select required partition it shows error message "Windows needs the driver for device [Intel SD Host Controller]. Click 'Load Driver' and load the required device". I can't install to other partitions as they are reserved/hidden and are of 900 MB max size, and show the same error message.

When I start Windows installation from media using it as boot device it just doesn't see the eMMC drive.

Background:

Laptop has Windows 10 on board preinstalled which gives about 500 MB free space left on a 32 GB eMMC card and tends to consume all free space which ultimately makes system non working. That card is there instead of HDD or SSD. Consuming space is not the only reason for moving to Windows 7, and using Windows 10 is strongly not preferred option.

My Intel driver update utility says "Failure, unknown error." whenever I try to update the Intel Chipset Device Software (INF Update Utility-EXE Only) on my computer. How to measure load on system memory controller/northbridge?

$

GPU-Z has a field in the sensor tab which gives the video card 'memory controller load'. I think this is the collection of transistors responsible to passing information between the video card RAM and the GPU. I believe that the CPU and system RAM has an equivalent memory controller located in the northbridge. I would like to know what the load is on this memory controller because I'm trying to understand why I'm being told my inadequate hardware is the reason for dropped frames when previewing video during editing despite the fact that none of the parameters I can measure suggest a hardware bottleneck (CPU, GPU and GPU mem controller <25%, mostly ~15%).
