USB 3.0 extensible Host Controller Stack in Windows 7 and compatible ID descriptor issue

$

Hi there,

I have got an issue with a custom USB 2.0 device (with our own firmware) regarding enumeration and driver installation in windows 7 using USB 3.0 extensible Host Controller driver.

The devices uses the BOS descriptor (OS 1.0) to provide a compatible ID (RNDIS) for selecting the appropriate inf file / driver (rndiscmp.inf / rndiscmp6.sys). This works fine in Windows 7 using (native Microsoft) USB 2.0 driver and also in Windows 8 using USB 3.0 or 2.0 with MS driver (on many different installations). But it does not work in Windows 7 using intel USB 3.0 extensible Host Controller (using a VIA Chipset/driver stack it works!). Analyzing USB traffic I can observe that the Descriptor is requested from the device. Hereupon the compatible ID is sent to the PC but it can not be found in registry and hence it is not used to select the driver automatically (evaluating setupapi.dev). The driver must be chosen manually then.

Actually the USB requests are the same as in the USB 2.0 case but something goes wrong in intel USB 3.0 driver stack.

Does anybody have any idea? Or any additional debugging possibility?

Thank you very much!

Martin

Hi,

For a study, I would like to know the differences between two Intel Chipset driver versions (example: delta changes/fixes/improvements from v9.4.0.1026 and v10.0.27)

In the Intel websites, I don't get this information. can you please update from where can I get these information?

I would like to know the known issues/bugs in the previous release and fixes/improvements/new features in the next release.

Appreciate your help!

USB hdd makes mouse freeze for few seconds

Hi there,

Here's me and another issue with my Windows 7 on my HP Pavilion 15-ab291sa.

The problem is that 8/10 times when I plug in my external HDD to any usb 3.0 ports the mouse will freeze for 5 seconds (I'm using wireless Logitech mouse with reciver pluged into one of the usb's).

I recently downgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 7 and I never had those problems under win10.

I have all the latest drivers for intel usb 3.0 controller installed.

I checked so many different solutions but nothing helped.

Any ideas, please?

Chipset driver 10.1.1.42 will not update over 10.1.1.38 on NUC6i7KYK

I have not been able to successfully update .38 to .42 on nuc6i7kyk.  Drivers still report as .38 after install, and when using intel driver update utility, it seems install completes, but message shows fail.

Matrix Storage Manager- Win 10 update - driver failed to load

Hi

I have just updated from windows 7 to 10 ( beginning to wish I had not)

My storage controller is Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller

My Processors are 2 x  Intel(R) Core(TM)2cpu 6300 @ 1.86GHz

My Disk Drives are indicated in Device Manager as Intel Raid 1 Volume

The Raid Volume has operated perfectly well as a Raid level 1 mirror until update

At Boot the Raid indicates status as Verify

When I try to start up the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Consul I get the error message-

'Raid plug-in failed to load because the driver is not installed correctly'

I have tried to update drivers via device manager to be advised driver is up to date

I have tried to update drivers automatically via the Intel Download Centre but this fails to detect any drivers

I have downloaded f6flpy-x86.zip from the Intel Download Centre but am not certain this is appropriate for the Matrix Storage controller

but if it is I do not know how to install it.

Please can some one advise me - how can I resolve?

Thank you

Intel Z170 - 100/230c - m.2/Sata speed problem (Win10 x64)

Hello,

I have the problem, that in Win 10 the performance of the hard drives (m.2 and Sata) are in small transfer package sizes up to 10x or even more slower that in comparison to windows 8.

Please see Picture below. All tests are made on the same Computer with (Atto disk benchmark)! This is an Z170 Chipset mother board with Intel 100/230c Disk controller. I think, there must be an issue with the Intel 100/230C controller drivers or something similar. Windows 10 has the latest update installed with the latest Intel inf drivers an the 15.x.x.xxx version of the 100/230c controler.

If all folks have have the same problems as me, they don't even notice that there disks runs 10x slower than they schould!!

Can i get some support with this issue?

Thanks a lot

RAID1 problems

Hello,

I have a RAID1 system.

Windows 7 says me that there is a problem with the disk (this means with one of the two disks that make the array).

If one of the two hdd was damaged (but not eliminated from the array), can this affect the performance of the entire RAID system (for example during windows updates)?

The option "Reset disks to non-RAID" during RAID BIOS, could be the solution to find the faulty disk? (I do this excluding from array disk1 and then disk2 randomly)

Choosing "Create RAID volume" after have been chosen "Reset disks to non-RAID" (leaving BIOS hd configuration as RAID), will it do a full entire new copy from disk1 to disk2 or only an incremental copy?

Anyway, if you have understood my problem, can you suggest me a solution?

Thank you.

Salve,

USB 3.0 xHCI drivers mostly working, but not detected by Windows 7

Here are my specs:

Processor: Core i5 6400

Motherboard: ASRock H110M-ITX (H110 chipset)

Operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64-bit)

USB driver: Intel USB 3.0 xHCI driver (5.0.0.32)

I managed to install Windows 7 and the USB 3.0 drivers, but there are a few issues.

1) If I plug certain 2.0 devices (such as thumb drives) on a 3.0 port, Windows can't install the drivers. If I plug them on a 2.0 port, the drivers are installed and now I can plug them on 3.0 ports without issues.

2) I can't install the drivers for an HP printer because the setup can't detect any USB controller and cancels installation. If I run Microsoft USB Fix It (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17614/automatically-diagnose-and-fix-windows-usb-problems), it says "The USB Controller is in a failed state or is not currently installed". USBView (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff560019(v=vs.85).aspx) recognizes all ports and connected devices.

Experimenting with USB Legacy and other UEFI options didn't help.

AC-7265 still disconnect before roaming using latest drivers

I have tried the latest drivers for Windows10 / Windows7 and results from ping/throughput (iperf) test have been consistent since 18.40.0.0. After roaming through 3-5 access points, AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9  or AIR-CAP3702I-B-K9, clients don't continue to roam but temporarily disconnect then reconnect after 3-6sec sometimes longer. I have found that driver version 17.0.5.8 works flawless (acceptable <1-2sec network loss/roam) on 5.2xGhz using the AC-7260 Windows7 machine. Where can we get this driver to continue testing on the other three devices. Windows10 64-bit, AC-7265, AC-8260 and Windows7 AC-8260?

Food for thought: Devices have no issues roaming when adapter set to 2.4Ghz Preferred using latest drivers, 19.20 or 19.30. Due to hospital environment we need to have clinical device set to use only 5.2xGhz.
