I'm using an external box (Fantec QB-35US3) which is based on a JMicron JMS539 USB 3.0 chip. The transfer between the external box and my notebook (ASUS N56VZ), freezes every time I directly connect the box to my USB 3.0 notebook port. Often, after connecting the USB 3.0 cable to my notebook, the hard drive inside the box is not recognized and Windows 7 x64 SP1 ask to format it. Anyway, I've heard that some users, after having connected an USB 3.0 external box to a USB 3.0 hub, never had any problems with the transfer. Moreover, a user wrote that he solved his problem with the Fantec box by buying a USB 3.0 hub based on VIA VL812, and since then the transfer between box and PC had been working flawlessy. Do you think that in my case, an external USB 3.0 hub based on VL812 could do the trick? In affirmative case, would it be better do buy a hub with power adapter?
