Hello,
I understand that Windows uses INF files so that the correct name is show in Device Manager but I was reading the following 'Read Me' text for the 'INF Update Utility' and it says the following -
"The Intel(R) Chipset Device Software installs Windows*
INF files to the target system. These files outline to
the operating system how to configure the Intel(R) chipset
components in order to ensure that the following features
function properly:
- Core PCI and ISAPNP Services
- PCIe Support
- IDE/ATA33/ATA66/ATA100 Storage Support
- SATA Storage Support
- USB Support
Do the INF files really provide anything for things listed above? All of these work with the generic INF files that Windows provides without installing any INF files from Intel.
Any clarification would be appreciated,
Thanks.
