Two RST Icons in SystemTray - One Working, One Not Working

I was having problems with one of the 11.x releases of Rapid Storage Technology Driver, where the service would not load (as indicated by the system tray icon).  I went back to an earlier 11.x release that was known to work fine, and the issue went away for some time.

Recently, I noticed the RST driver was up to 12.x, so I upgraded to the newest 12.x version.

Unfortunately, I now have two RST icons in my system tray.

One which says "Intel RST service is not running", with a blue circle over the icon, and the other which says, "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" with a green checkmark on the icon.

If I open the one with the blue circle, I get an error: "Intel Rapid Storage Technology is trying to connect to the service."  The error does not go away until I close it.

If I open the one with the green checkmark, I'm taken directly to the Intel Rapid Storage Technology interface, and it says "Your system is functioning normally."

So, why do I have two?

How do I get rid of the old (non-working) one?

All I did was upgrade over the old driver as I've always done in the past, and I've never had this happen before.

Also, in the Programs and Features section of Control Panel, there is only one entry for Intel Rapid Storage Technology, and it is for the newer (working) 12.x version.

Windows 7 x64.
