I have the Intel Rapid Storage Technology RAID I configuration. I use this to prevent loss of data due to a hard drive failure. I have also been periodically cloning using the Acronis software to a hard drive via a USB connection to protect against any virus corruption of the hard drives.
I found that the cloned hard drive could not boot up. Western Digital told me that the problem was that a hard drive in a RAID configuration could not be cloned. The solution that they suggested was to turn off the RAID, clone, then turn the RAID back on.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate Edition.
Can this be done? If so, how? Also, would this be the best approach?
Thanks for the help.
