IAStorDataSvc uses 17 to 20% of CPU all the time

After my laptop upgraded from Win7 to Win10 I am seeing IAStorDataSvc at the top of the CPU used list all the time.  It is consistently consuming 17 to 20 % of CPU at all times.  I cannot say for certain if this also happened prior to the upgrade from Win 7.

I have seen older posts regarding this but I am not certain if the solution would apply to me or not.  One solution is to uninstall Rapid Storage Technology.  Another is to check what the setting in BIOS is for SATA.  I have looked in my BIOS but I don't see any reference to SATA.  I don't want to randomly un-install Rapid Storage Technology unless there is good reason to.  My laptop manufacturer is not going to update my laptop to be compatible with Win10 so I am on my own to trouble shoot drivers etc.

My Intel chip set is as follows if this helps:

Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 1 - 1E10

Any advice appreciated so my laptop can stop thrashing.
