SSD RAID 1 on ICH10R fails frequently

I have a Z87-based mobo with an ICH10R controller. I'm currently running Windows 7 (64-bit) and running with the latest driver as provided by my mobo maker (RST v.13.0.3.1001). I have two RAID 1 arrays defined: 2x 120GB SSDs for my system disk and 2x 1TB HDDs for data.

My problem: As soon as I converted to SSDs, I've had this frequent problem with the system array where half of the array will be marked as failed after a restart. The SSDs are port 0 and 1 and it's always the SSD in port 1 that's marked as failed. I have replaced the SSD attached to that port twice now. I have also replaced the SATA cable and I continue to see this problem.

When I pull the failed SSD and put it into another system, it works just fine. I happen to have one in a spare laptop at the office running Win8 and I've had no problems with it.

I'm at my wit's end as to what could be causing this. Not sure if it's because I haven't configured some of the settings for the array correctly in the RST application (caching, etc.), if it's because I'm using "consumer" grade SSDs, or some other reason.

Has any one else encountered this problem? If not, would you be willing to share how you've got caching, etc. configured and what brand of SSDs you're currently using? I'm currently using a Kingston and a PNY.

Thanks in advance!
