IAStorDataMgrSvc: Internal program error: missing resource string DM_1_0_7

I get this error in Windows event log whenever I try to start the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology service. Also followed by the following .Net Runtime crash event:

I have tried reinstalling everything with no success so far. My operating system is Windows 8.1 64-bit and the chipset is Intel 8-series Lynx Point. The crash occurs in with both BIOS SATA settings AHCI and Intel Smart Response Mode. The hardware setup is composed by a single SSHD.
