Intel Rapid Storage Technology - Cannot expand array

$

Hello all,
i have a Gigabyte GA-Z97M-D3H motherboard with Z97M chipset. The system has 4 HDD raid 5 setup. One array, 2 disk partitions. What i want to do, if it is possible, is to expand this array with one more (5th) disk. The thing is, that the "Expand Array" option under the Manage Array is nowhere to be found. All 5 disks are the same size and same model.
Please Check screen shot.

The Version of the RST driver/gui is 13.6.2.1001 and its the latest in the Gigabyte site.
Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Thank you in advance,

Dionisis.

Chipset driver 10.1.1.42 will not update over 10.1.1.38 on NUC6i7KYK

I have not been able to successfully update .38 to .42 on nuc6i7kyk.  Drivers still report as .38 after install, and when using intel driver update utility, it seems install completes, but message shows fail.

Use OEM W-7 driver or current Intel for 8/8.1?

I realize this is an Intel forum, not an HP one, but I'll ask my questions anyway.

I have an HP ProBook laptop with Ivy Bridge processor and HM67 chipset. Up until now I have been running W-7, with HP's website offering a complete set of drivers. However, HP's change to multiple organizations caused the driver download page to lose a great number of things. The pages for W-8 and W-8.1 are missing a chipset driver, but they list an ME driver in its place. The page for W-10 is missing drivers for chipset, audio, Ethernet, wireless, media card, touchpad, and fingerprint sensor. I asked about this in HP's forums, but no one replied.

I will use a spare drive and test a W-10 installation via a CD-ROM downloaded from Microsoft to see if Microsoft supplies drivers for all hardware. The only thing I'm missing for 8/8.1 is the chipset driver (the driver CD-ROM does not include one). For both of these, I will use the graphics driver downloaded from the following link. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25977/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-33-

What would be my best chance for success with 8/8.1: use the W-7 chipset driver from HP or download an Intel one from the following link, knowing that the latter will not contain any OEM modifications? https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/20775/Intel-Chipset-Device-Software-INF-Update-Utility-

P.S. HP wouldn't have combined ME and chipset in one driver, would they?

I'm not very knowledgeable about computers, help as to why my Intel Driver updater is failing would be helpful.

HDD click (excessive load-unload cycles)

$

Two of my HDDs are clicking and have an excessive load-unload cycles.

I'm running 2x Samsung F3 1TB (HD103SJ) in RAID-0 using Z97 chipset Sata 3 ports.

My MB is a ASRock Z97 Extreme6, HDDs firmware is 1AJ10001. MB Bios is P1.33.

I had 13.1.0.1058 RST driver and installed 12.9.2.1000 but the issue persisted.

I have Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit running on a Samsung 830 Series 256GB SSD, I also have two more HDDs, one Seagate 3TB and one Toshiba 160GB... No issues with these drives.

On my previous setup I was using these HDDs on a X58 chipset Sata 2 ports, also in RAID-0 mode, Intel RST 11 and got no issues.

I think the drives are going idle too fast, because when I need to open or seek for something on the drive, the click starts.

I don't know if this is a BIOS problem or a Intel RST problem, I don't know for sure, but when the computer starts, during post I can hear the click (only once, if I go to UEFI there is no click there and the drive is detected by BIOS).

I tried some troubleshoots, configured (advanced power management, automatic acoustic management, sata aggressive link power management, windows power management) but nothing worked : (

I'm kinda desperate because I have one "click" each 10 seconds (approximately), it means 3600 load-unload cycles in 10 hours!

For now I made the disks off-line through Windows disk management, until I figure out some solution/workaround.

I appreciate any help you can give!

UPDATE!

The problem was solved by installing Intel RST 12 series drivers, power off, disconnect the PSU cable, connect the affected hard drives on another Z97 Sata port and power on the computer.

If I install Intel RST 13 series driver the issue will return, is this a bug with RST 13 series? I don't think my HDD spending one load/unload cycle each 10 seconds is normal.

Z3735E drivers?

Hey guys,

Windows Update offered me an Instel System Update driver and I installed it on my Win 8.1 x32 tablet with Atom Z3735E. Bad idea as it broke the touchscreen and other important stuff.

Looking around, I can see other people have had the same issue but I've not found any way to fix it

It appears the update installed drivers for Pentium, Celeron and other CPUs. Why the system deemed them to be compatible with an Atom I have no clue, but it did.

While I can restore a backup, I'd still like to know if there's a way to install proper drivers. Whenever Windows does stupid crap like this, I try to dig in and see if/how it can be fixed (education purposes you can say). I mean it's all just files, it's not like the computer is sick or something.

Intel doesn't have any drivers for download for this (why??), the manufacturer (GoClever) doesn't either.

How would you proceed if you'd need to fix an issue like this?

Thanks.

No me funciona puerto usb 3.0

I'm using external system on laptop latitude e5450 with Windows Pro 64 bit by USB port (it is working).

After install drivers to USB 3.0 "Chipset_Driver_TTGK8_WN_3.0.0.34_A00" I got BSOD.

When this disk is connected by sata: no BSOD.

It is possible to use USB 3.0 on external system bootable via USB in Dell Latitude E5450 ?

(Configuration:

- main systems on internal disk, I cannot modify it

- second system on external disk via USB - working without drivers USB 3.0 -> very slow transfer to/from external HD)

Hi

I created Cachecade using 2*SSD RAID 1 configuration. But I am not able to enable the ssdcaching on any VD. The option to enable ssd caching on VD is disabled in my BIOS. The VD properties is showing that it is not a cachecade capable device. What needs to be done to make a VD with Cachecade enabled ?   I

have serveral VD's with RAID5, RAID0 and RAID1 configuration.  I am not able to enable on any of those

When i am trying to perform the same using storcli commands. It is throwing an error that "ssd caching enabling on the VD is blocked"

Here are my details :

BIOS version : 6.32.02.0_4.17.08

FW version = 4.660.00-8102

Driver name = megaraid_sas

Driver version : 06.810.10.00

product - intel raid controller RS3SC008

Device interface - 12G

Thanks

Slow performance RAID0 with SSD Cache

I am running a Z97 board.  Latest Intel RST drivers downloaded from Intel's website.

RAID0 is made of 3x 300GB 7200rpm mechanical drive

Cache is a 64GB Sandisk SSD

I am getting really bad performance with this setup.  looking at the Task Manager (Windows 10) the RAID0 volume is is getting 50% usage with Write about 30MB/sec.  About 30-45mins it will settle down, but the performance is still really bad.  read performance is never passes 80MB/sec and mostly around 45-60MB/sec.

Please help

Bug with RST since v14 which doesn't allow HDDs to spin down

Hello

Tested with different disks and with all versions between 14.0 and 15.2 : the bug is attested. The spin-down function was OK in 13.6.

Do you know why this bug hasn't been solved within more than 19 lonnnnnnnnnnng month ????!!!

Yet it has been reported long time ago !

New RST 14.0.0.1143 doesn't allow HDDs to spin down (bug?)

Thank you
